Hi Prem. I like this unusual tipe of photo. It is very sharp and I like the reflection in the eye. I wuold have tried to darken the white spot on the right hand side because it is a bit distracting. Seppie

The posing and model interaction with the camera are very good. Where I see improvement is in the eyes. There are no catch lights and they appear dark and somewhat lifeless. A strobe slightly to camera left and slightly above would add sparkle to the eyes and open the shadows on her neck and right chin. She looks like a good model to work with, try some more shots and post them.

Chuck

You know, it is a nice try, but the lighting set-up does this model no favor: the almost complete lack of any shadow emphasizing the facial features is in my opinion inexcusable for a studio portrait. The consequence is a remarkably flat portrait, and the lack of skin texture does not appeal to me, either. I find that a vertical or square format would better suit this portrait. The model's expression, the smile, look quite artificial, fairly sterile to me, and I think that...

Nice subject and composition. I find the colors to be too drab for my taste. It's like the colors want to come out but they can't. Perhaps a polarizing filter could have deepened and darkened your blues. But seeing as how you do have nice contrasting tones here, perhaps this could be better in B&W? If you shot in RAW then you have lots of options to make the intricate tree branches pop out in such a conversion.

This photo gives a sense of the building's majestic scale. It delivers an appreciation of what the original designers tried to achieve. The clouds give is a dramatic scale. Judging from the light, it appears as if this photo was taken near sunset. But I wonder about the lack of light on the building's side and the left side of the sky. Beautiful work.

Beautiful portrait, very well placed in the frame and benefiting from your model's slightly mysterious expression. The lighting is great and, although I agree with previous critiques that the left hand is no bonus, I find it to be just a minor fault. The W produced by light and shadow on the forearm and décolleté unfortunately resembles a large-scale cloning error. I truly appreciate the natural skin texture without excessive glamorization. The face however is...

This is a great start, a real resource for further refinement, Rob. Great concept, good execution and presentation. It seems that the highlights on the girl at the bottom are too bright, especially underwater, so I'd probably dim those highlights by burning the white highlights on face and shoulder. Also, the light under her chin seems too bright, so I'd treat that area as well. I would consider lightly cloning some pinkness there, keeping skin tones of the other swimmer...

sorry but this is in my opinion uninterseting the distance to the castle just makes it look like a mound the white line along the horizon and around the castle is too obvious and the sky just looks drab the foreground is bland and and boring, try a re shoot ,don't over do it in the editing, this area of northumberland is gorgeous and deserves a better shot than this. ty for sharing ian

Hi Laurie, beautiful macro of this tiger moth. I like the rich and deep colors and the leaf the moth is sitting on as a diagonal. One of the two antennae touches the border; a bit more room around the insect would have been better. Generally I'm not a fan of borders arond pictures. This one seems complementary however. Nice work.

Good idea and execution, although a black background does not fit in my opinion. All these reflections and the colors are not reliable in such a background. But a good start. Regards

Hi Antonio. you were probably going for the feel of painting, or something, but this unnatural layers, these guys sail in, look to me like a slice of limestone slab or something... i realy don't think this effect does any good to the picture...
sorry.

Love playing pool. Photo resonated. But it's too dark; even the TV, which ought to be a little more visible, is really faded. The other issue is the chalk in the foreground. Difficult lighting situation.

beautiful Fabian! i'm still struggling with myself about the DOF though. i would, probably, try different combos: branches off focus, or the mill...
and certainly would try to put the mill in the golden crosses. it's just too small size detail, and should be more...accented on...so to speak, by this.
greets, Vasko:)

I like the colors and the way you composed the subject. I feel like the image is overcropped and possibly oversharpened in post. The eyes look soft and really don't pop the way they could and should, which takes away from the overall impact.
